Available to rent through Revolt Camera, the X-Type is the ideal choice for productions demanding fluid, precise camera movement with the reliability and versatility to handle any scenario, from controlled studio work to demanding on-location shoots.

The X-Type is a masterpiece of modern engineering, constructed from high-quality, durable materials designed to perform not just on today’s sets, but well into the future. At only 67 kg / 147 lbs for the column, it’s remarkably lightweight for a dolly of its calibre, making transport, setup, and repositioning faster and easier without sacrificing an ounce of stability.
Innovative Column Design
One of the X-Type’s standout features is its removable column, which detaches from the dolly base for streamlined transport. Batteries are embedded at the base of the column, lowering the centre of gravity for increased stability and reducing the risk of tipping – a meaningful safety advantage on busy sets. The 360° rotatable High-Low Turnstile gives the DOP greater flexibility in camera placement while also freeing up valuable legroom.
Patented Range Extender
The X-Type’s patented Range Extender is a game-changer for focus pullers and camera operators alike. By doubling both the lift range and lift speed – without increasing the dolly’s footprint – it opens up dramatically lower and higher camera positions that would otherwise require additional rigging. The movement is 100% linear throughout the entire range, making rack focus smooth and predictable.
Versatile Steering Modes
The X-Type offers three steering modes in its standard configuration: Crab, Front, and Rear. Add the optional Crab & Steer Kit and unlock a fourth Steer mode, featuring mathematically calculated elliptic sprockets for near-silent, low-friction cornering with perfect geometry. Whether you’re running a straight track pass or navigating a complex curved move, the X-Type adapts to your shot.
Combi Wheel System
The X-Type’s Combi Wheel Unit allows the dolly to be driven directly onto track without lifting – a significant time-saver on set. Wheels can be swapped quickly using dovetail connections, with options including studio wheels (hard or soft), pneumatic wheels for rough surfaces, studio-air wheels, and big transport wheels. An integrated brake lever simultaneously locks floor wheels and track wheels.
Wireless Control & All-Day Power
The X-Type is operated via a Bluetooth handset – usable wirelessly or via cable – giving operators full control over height, speed, and battery monitoring. Panther’s snap-on battery system delivers a full day of shooting on a single charge, with lithium and lead-acid options available.
Compatible Accessories The X-Type pairs seamlessly with the Panther Vario Jib PRO, Vario Slider, Super Jib II, and a full range of platforms, push bars, and camera mounts (bowl or Mitchell).
