Known as “The Hurt Locker” lens, this Canon 8-64mm T2.4 is a high performer with qualities such as excellent coverage, a fast T-stop that doesn’t ramp, and sharpness across the entire range. One of the things that makes this lens so desirable is that the focus breathing is very well controlled. At the wide end, there is no breathing at all. In the mid-range it’s minimal, barely noticeable. At the longest focal lengths breathing increases slightly, but is still impressively low. This compact, lightweight Super16 Zoom is perfect for both run-and-gun as well as documentary-style shooting.
