The NiSi Cinema 4×5.65? True Color Rotating PL Polarizing Filter reduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizing filter arranges and filters this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for much of this light absorption. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage. 

The NiSi Cinema 4 x 5.65” (6mm) Variable Neutral Density 0.6-1.8 (2-6 Stops) Filter is a variable natural density filter with the range of 0.6-1.8 or 2-6 stops. It creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing a cinematographer to shoot with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the gear or combining a lens motor to control the density. The aluminum and glass filter is 6mm thick and occupies a single filter slot in a compatible 4 x 5.65″ matte box or can be used without a matte box. It offers 2 to 6 stops of neutral-color light reduction and features NiSi’s optical glass.

It is easy to see why the Black Pro-Mists have been such a success for over the past 30 or so years. Its unique layering of contrast combined with a gauzy paint like halation, function as a twist on the stand of the pro halation spill effect. Even at its lowest density, it delivers an effective and increase in the halation which adds a pleasing depth of warmth, but is not transported to the skin tone values. These characteristics will become more apparent when you use densities of 1 quarter and above.

The NiSi Cinema 4×5.65” True Color Linear Polarizing Filter is designed to reduce glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces, increase saturation and vibrancy in the sky and foliage while ensuring true color reproduction is at its best by eliminating the warming effect that many polarisers create. Our True Color PL removes the warm tone seen with other brands of polarising filters and provides a closer true color representation of the scene. NiSi’s Cinema 4×5.65” True Color Linear Polarizing Filter utilizes Cine seal technology which blackens the edge of the glass for added durability. This technology reduces the influence of temperature fluctuations and keeps out condensation.

The NiSi Cinema 4×5.65″ Allure Mist Black Filter (1/8 Stop) reduces highlights and lowers contrast and softens wrinkles and blemishes. Numerous strategies have been developed for softening or diffusing images to create that special “atmosphere” by softening excess sharpness and contrast.
